The 2026 Canton Fair promotes deepening economic and trade cooperation in the Greater Bay Area in Hong Kong
The 2026 Canton Fair Hong Kong Spring Tea Reception, jointly organized by the Trade Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Central People's Government Liaison Office in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (referred to as the "Liaison Office") and the China Foreign Trade Center, was held in Hong Kong on the evening of March 17th. At the event, the China Foreign Trade Center signed a memorandum of understanding on global partnership cooperation with the Greater Bay Area Low Altitude Economic Alliance, promising to work together to explore emerging areas of cooperation.
Zhou Qiang, Deputy Minister of the Economic Department and Head of the Trade Department of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, delivered a speech stating that since its establishment in 1957, the Canton Fair has served as a "barometer" and "wind vane" for China's foreign trade, always adhering to the concept of "openness, cooperation, and win-win", and promoting China's foreign economic and trade exchanges and cooperation.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Qiu Yinghua, delivered a speech stating that the Canton Fair, as an important window for the country's opening up to the outside world, has promoted high-quality development of international trade over the years and made significant contributions to global economic and trade cooperation. He looks forward to more Hong Kong companies participating in this year's Canton Fair, showcasing their outstanding quality and innovation capabilities while exploring new trade opportunities. At the same time, we also sincerely invite mainland enterprises to make good use of Hong Kong's unique advantages under the "One Country, Two Systems" policy, leverage the Hong Kong platform to set sail and work together to promote high-quality development of the country.
Zhu Yong, Director of the China International Trade Center, delivered a speech stating that Hong Kong is not only the starting point for the Canton Fair to go global, but also a bridge for Chinese products to connect with the world. In the future, Hong Kong will deeply integrate into the Greater Bay Area by promoting the two-way empowerment of traditional trade and emerging fields such as cross-border e-commerce, low altitude economy, and artificial intelligence. Hong Kong is not only a 'super contact', but also a 'partner' for high-quality innovation and development in the Greater Bay Area.
It is reported that the 139th Canton Fair is scheduled to open on April 15th, and the 140th Canton Fair is scheduled to open on October 15th.
