In the first two months, Shanghai's import and export to countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road" maintained rapid growth
At the beginning of 2026, Shanghai's trade with countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road" has made a "good start": according to the statistics of Shanghai Customs, the first two months of this year Shanghai's import and export to countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road" totaled 336.12 billion yuan, an increase of 24% year on year. Focusing on the demand for "Made in China" exports such as large-scale engineering equipment, transportation vehicles, and consumer goods, Shanghai Customs provides professional and intelligent supervision services to ensure efficient customs clearance of goods, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of foreign trade throughout the year.
On the first day of the Chinese New Year on February 17th, the first train of the China Europe Railway (Shanghai) in the Year of the Horse completed its cargo assembly, loaded with household appliances, automotive parts, and other goods. Under the supervision and protection of the customs at Shanghai Station, it departed from Minhang Railway Station with a whistle. The train departed from Alashankou Port in Xinjiang and eventually arrived in Malaszewicz, Poland. This train is loaded with a total of 110 standard containers, with a total weight of approximately 1000 tons and a cargo value exceeding 40 million RMB.
Wei Wei, the head of the Railway Supervision Department at Shanghai Railway Station Customs, said, "With our unwavering commitment and continuous service, we have deepened cooperation and communication with customs at destinations such as Alashankou, established an instant communication and troubleshooting mechanism, and made every effort to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the China Europe freight train, a stable and efficient international logistics channel
At the end of February, under the supervision of Longwu Customs, the "Fuhong 18" ship loaded with 201 tons of steel coils, 59 vehicles, and 57 tons of engineering equipment set sail from the Longwu Branch of Shanghai Port and headed towards Gongbu Port in Cambodia. In the first two months of this year, Longwu Customs supervised the export of 63600 tons of engineering equipment, transportation vehicles and other goods from Longwu Port to countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road", an increase of 52.15% year on year.
This growth is attributed to the coordinated efforts of route expansion and regulatory optimization. In 2025, two boutique shipping routes from Shanghai Port to Kampot Port in Cambodia and Jakarta in Indonesia will be put into operation in the Longwu Port area, driving a cumulative export of 93700 tons of goods throughout the year and further expanding logistics channels with Southeast Asia. Longwu Customs has implemented a series of measures such as "advance declaration", "unaccompanied inspection", and the establishment of a green inspection channel to safeguard "Made in China" going global. On March 4th of this year, the direct flight route from Shanghai Port to Gongbu Port celebrated its first anniversary of operation. Over the past year, the route has transported more than 1400 sets of engineering equipment, over 1200 vehicles, and more than 40000 tons of steel to sea.
At the end of February, a batch of large-scale equipment weighing over 1900 tons, including refrigerated and water-cooled station cabins and liquid cooled station cabins, used for the construction of the World Data Project, was loaded onto ships under the supervision of Shanghai Wusong Customs at the Zhanghuabang Port in Shanghai and successfully exported to Malaysia. In the first two months of this year, the project has shipped 5 voyages from Zhanghuabang Port and is expected to export 500000 cubic meters of goods from the port throughout the year.
In response to the demand for exporting large equipment, Shanghai Wusong Customs has implemented a major project filing and tracking mechanism, comprehensively utilizing convenient measures such as "direct loading upon arrival", video patrols, and ship side inspections, and setting up service windows to quickly solve customs clearance difficulties. In the first two months of this year, more than 1 million tons of goods were exported to countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road" under the supervision of the customs.
