At the beginning of the Chinese New Year, the Xiyu Port in Zhuhai was bustling with activity, with cranes lifting and cargo ships shuttling back and forth. On the morning of February 24th, after customs supervision and inspection, two transport ships set sail for Macau, sounding their horns. The fully loaded 9179 tons of high-quality sand and gravel materials from mainland China will be supplied to multiple large-scale infrastructure projects and livelihood projects, including the Macau airport reclamation and expansion project.
Since the new year, infrastructure projects in Macau have been rushing to meet deadlines. The rapid clearance of high-quality sand and gravel from mainland China not only ensures the construction needs of key projects in Macau, but also improves the turnover efficiency of dock berths, providing solid material support for Macau's infrastructure projects, "said Huang Zhenwei, General Manager of Zhuhai Weixin International Shipping Co., Ltd.
As the main port for customs clearance of sand and gravel exports from Zhuhai to Hong Kong and Macao, Xiyu Port relies on its location advantage of connecting Hong Kong and Macao, and its business volume continues to rise. Wan Chai Customs, under the jurisdiction of Gongbei Customs, has strengthened its communication with customs and enterprises, with dedicated personnel liaising with sand and gravel export business units, and providing "online+offline" customs clearance guidance services through the "declaration window".
We make full use of ship mounted monitoring, satellite positioning, belt scales and other regulatory equipment to achieve full process supervision of 'loading transportation customs clearance', helping to ensure safe and convenient customs clearance of construction materials supplied to Hong Kong and Macao, "said Liu Qian, Deputy Director of the Supervision Department of Wan Chai Customs. According to statistics, as of February 23 this year, Wan Chai Customs has supervised a total of 481 ships supplying sand and gravel to Hong Kong and Macao, and inspected 2.102 million tons of construction materials such as sand and gravel, an increase of 24.3% and 24.9% year-on-year, respectively.
