290000 yuan! Qingmao Customs seized a passenger carrying undeclared Hong Kong dollars out of the country

On February 8th, Qingmao Customs under Gongbei Customs seized a passenger carrying undeclared Hong Kong dollars totaling 290000 yuan, equivalent to approximately 256700 yuan, at the Qingmao Port's travel inspection exit channel.
That night, when the on-site customs officers were supervising the luggage and belongings of outbound passengers, they found that there was an abnormality in the luggage and belongings carried by a passenger, so they intercepted and inspected it. After further inspection on site, the customs officer found a total of HKD 290000, equivalent to approximately RMB 256700, in the passenger's bag that had not been declared. At present, the case has been further processed in accordance with relevant regulations.
Customs reminder: According to relevant regulations, the limit for carrying Hong Kong dollars out of the country for the first time within 15 days is equivalent to 5000 US dollars; Passengers who leave the country for the second time or more within 15 days, and for the second time or more on the same day, carry cash equivalent to no more than 1000 US dollars and 500 US dollars respectively. Customs will not release those who exceed the limit. If it is necessary to carry a large amount of cash beyond the limit, one should apply for a foreign exchange exit permit from the foreign exchange management department or bank in advance.
