China's manufacturing PMI rose to 50.1% in September
Beijing, September 30 (Xinhua) - According to data released by the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing on the 30th, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for China's manufacturing industry was 50.1% in September, an increase of 0.3 percentage points from the previous month and rising to the expansion zone. Among the 21 industries surveyed, 12 industries had PMI above the critical point, an increase of 4 from last month, indicating an expansion in the prosperity of the manufacturing industry.
In September, the manufacturing production index was 51.7%, an increase of 1.3 percentage points from the previous month, and the new order index was 50.5%, a slight decrease of 0.1 percentage points from the previous month. Both indices were above the critical point, and the production and market demand of manufacturing enterprises continued to improve.
Affected by the recent rise in international commodity prices and increased demand in some industries, the purchase price index and factory price index of major raw materials have both rebounded for two consecutive months, and the overall price level of the manufacturing market has risen significantly. In September, the purchasing price index and ex factory price index of major raw materials in the manufacturing industry were 60.8% and 54.0%, respectively, an increase of 4.2 and 3.6 percentage points from the previous month. From an industry perspective, with the significant increase in international crude oil prices, both price indices for industries such as petroleum, coal, and other fuel processing, chemical raw materials, and chemical products have risen to a high of over 60.0%.
The three key industries are expanding rapidly. In September, the PMI of the equipment manufacturing industry, high-tech manufacturing industry, and consumer goods industry were 51.0%, 52.5%, and 50.7%, respectively, all above the critical point, indicating that the overall production and operation of related industry enterprises are relatively active. The PMI for high energy consuming industries was 48.0%, an increase of 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, indicating an improvement in the economic situation.
In September, the non manufacturing business activity index was 50.2%, an increase of 1.2 percentage points from the previous month, returning to the expansion range, and the non manufacturing industry's prosperity level has significantly improved.
