In the Meishan Port Area of Zhoushan Port in Ningbo, containers of various sizes and colors are stacked layer by layer like building blocks in the yard. Red giant bridge cranes wield steel arms to accurately grasp each container, and unmanned collection trucks shuttle in an orderly manner on dedicated channels... This bustling scene witnesses the historic leap of Meishan Port Area. By 2025, the throughput of Meishan Port Area will reach a new high.
By 2025, the cumulative container throughput of Meishan Port Area will reach 13.19 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 17.9%, setting a new historical high. This cannot be achieved without the joint cooperation of Ningbo Customs and other port units, effectively improving the operational efficiency of the port area through a series of measures such as smart logistics construction and releasing policy dividends, "said the person in charge of Ningbo Meidong Container Terminal Co., Ltd.
Looking back at the development history of Meishan Port Area, in 2024, Meishan Port Area will become the second "10 million container level" single container terminal of Ningbo Zhoushan Port. The number of remote control bridge cranes continues to increase, the scale of intelligent container equipment clusters continues to expand, the "unmanned" mixed line operation of intelligent container trucks has been optimized, and the impact of adverse weather and night operation restrictions have been overcome. The container throughput has grown strongly, all of which are vivid footnotes to building a world-class strong port.
In December 2025, Meishan Port Area successfully passed the on-site evaluation of the "four-star green port" level by the China Port Association. In addition, it has already been rated as a "four-star smart port". Meishan Port Area has become the first "double four-star" terminal of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group, and is steadily moving towards the goal of a "world-class ten million TEUs level green smart terminal".
Ningbo Customs has always been committed to its regulatory and service functions, fully safeguarding the high-quality development of Ningbo Port's economy, "said the person in charge of the Ningbo Customs Supervision Department." We have optimized our regulatory model, relied on smart logistics construction, supported green transformation, improved service efficiency, and helped Meishan Port Area and other areas unleash their operational potential, injecting 'customs momentum' into the high-quality development of Ningbo Port
Ningbo Customs strengthens the awareness of 'timely supervision', combines with the adjustment of the route of Meishan Port's' Twin Stars' and 'OA Alliance', supports enterprises to carry out export shipping and customs transfer business, promotes the development of multimodal transport business such as water transportation, and facilitates port clearance. ”Cao Wenqing, Deputy Director of the Logistics Monitoring Department at Meishan Customs, said. At the same time, Ningbo Customs assisted Meishan Port Area in overall planning of the operation site, helped the export LCL warehouse to smoothly complete the change, and further enriched the port's business layout. In terms of supporting the construction of green ports, by assisting in the normalization of LNG international navigation ship refueling business at ports, expanding the international shipping network, and effectively enhancing the port's hard core strength.
Ningbo Customs will continue to pay attention to shipping dynamics and market demand, continuously optimize regulatory services, and assist Ningbo Zhoushan Port in further improving its shipping service level, in order to support the steady growth of container throughput with more practical measures.
