Winter Solstice 'One Stop' Warmth People's Hearts
With another cold wave approaching, the outdoor temperature in Yantai has dropped below freezing point.
Recently, Ms. Huang, who lives in Yantai, Shandong, just received urgently needed medication for her sick mother. She felt warm in her heart and said, "I didn't expect the customs to contact us proactively and patiently guide us on how to declare it. They even took special measures to ensure that my mother used the medication the next day
It is understood that Ms. Huang's mother is seriously ill and urgently needs drugs shipped from overseas. Due to doubts about the declaration information on the mail waybill, the customs officers of Yantai Customs stationed at the post office under Qingdao Customs discovered the mail through the business system verification and took the initiative to call for communication as soon as possible. After learning about the special situation where critically ill patients urgently need medication, the customs immediately activated a special handling mechanism, providing detailed explanations of the supplementary declaration process of the "one-stop" platform for customs clearance of inbound and outbound mail, guiding family members to upload relevant supporting materials such as medical records, prescriptions, and purchase vouchers. Based on the verification of accuracy and compliance, a "green channel" was opened for drug clearance to accelerate the processing flow. In the end, the drug was cleared and delivered to the patient within 24 hours.
Behind this warmth is a microcosm of Yantai Customs' continuous optimization of cross-border mail supervision services.
At the beginning of the year, the General Administration of Customs officially launched the "one-stop" customs clearance platform for inbound and outbound mail clearance. In the past, handling cross-border mail clearance required switching between multiple systems, and declaration, tax payment, and progress inquiry had to run through different channels, which was both time-consuming and laborious. ”Hou Lei, the head of the Mail Supervision Department at the Yantai Customs Post Office, introduced that the new platform has completely broken down information barriers, integrating the full process functions of customs declaration, tax payment, return application, and tax refund processing, achieving "one platform, one login, and full process completion". The recipient can log in to the platform through their mobile phone or computer to check the email status in real time, fill in the declaration information online, and choose multiple payment channels to pay taxes and fees. There is no need to be present throughout the process, truly achieving the goal of "completing customs clearance without leaving home".
In order to cooperate with the platform's online operation, Yantai Customs has established a special service team to contact recipients in advance for system prompt emails, providing one-on-one guidance on operation and declaration. At the same time, for special groups such as the elderly, a "one-stop service guide desk" has been set up at the customs clearance site to arrange professional personnel to guide mobile phone business processing, ensuring full coverage of convenient services.
To further enhance service efficiency, on November 29th of this year, the customs innovatively launched the "Postal D Assistant" combined with AI big model technology, becoming an "intelligent guide" for recipients to handle business, achieving "7 × 24 hours" real-time answers to tax calculation, declaration materials, policy interpretation and other issues, accurately solving the pain points and problems of "not understanding policies and not operating" for the public when handling business. By 2025, the online processing rate of international mail clearance at Yantai Customs will reach 95%, and the average clearance time will increase by 40%.
Customs services not only have speed, but also warmth. "Many citizens have praised the" one-stop "service after experiencing it.
Next, the customs will continue to build a "green channel" for cross-border mail clearance through innovative service models and thoughtful measures. Through pre service, the public will feel convenience and warmth in business processing. (Wang Zhe/Text)
