According to data from the General Administration of Customs on May 9th, China exported 9.498 million tons of steel in April 2026, an increase of 363000 tons from the previous month and a month on month growth of 4.0%; From January to April, the cumulative export of steel reached 34.214 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7%.
In April, China imported 465000 tons of steel, a decrease of 47000 tons from the previous month and a month on month decrease of 9.2%; From January to April, a total of 1.804 million tons of steel were imported, a year-on-year decrease of 13.4%.
In April, China imported 103.854 million tons of iron ore and concentrate, a decrease of 889000 tons from the previous month and a month on month decrease of 0.8%; From January to April, a total of 418.587 million tons of iron ore and concentrate were imported, a year-on-year increase of 8.0%.
In April, China imported 33.083 million tons of coal and lignite, a decrease of 5.976 million tons from the previous month and a decrease of 15.3% compared to the previous month; From January to April, the cumulative import of coal and lignite was 149.36 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%.
