Certificate of Origin Helps Jilin Enterprises with ASEAN Trade
Jilin Dunhua, April 1 (Xinhua) -- A batch of core equipment for artificial board production lines worth about 400000 yuan (RMB) has been packaged and will soon be shipped to Indonesia in Dunhua Economic Development Zone, Jilin Province. Along with this batch of equipment, there is also a China ASEAN Free Trade Agreement Certificate of Origin issued by Yanji Customs. With this certificate, the equipment can enjoy a reduction of approximately 22000 yuan in import tariffs in Indonesia.
Yao Gang, the overseas business manager of Yalian Machinery Co., Ltd., introduced to reporters on April 1st that this certificate of origin has become an important help for the company to expand into overseas markets. Previously, the equipment segment in which the company operates was dominated by European manufacturers for a long time. Now, local enterprises are gradually expanding their market share, and their products have successfully entered multiple markets such as Russia, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.
According to data from Yanji Customs, a total of 37 preferential certificates of origin were issued for the company in 2025, involving an export value of approximately 47 million yuan. Based on an average tariff preference of about 5%, the cumulative tariff reduction for related products exceeds 2.3 million yuan. In the first two months of this year, Yanji Customs has issued four certificates involving goods worth approximately 1.3 million yuan.
Yao Gang stated that in addition to tariff preferences, the convenience measures implemented by the customs, such as electronic verification and self-service printing, allow enterprises to complete certificate applications online, greatly simplifying the process and reducing operating costs. At the same time, the customs also provide consultation and support on the interpretation of free trade agreement rules and declaration processes, providing comprehensive protection for enterprises going abroad.
Chen Zijun, head of the Comprehensive Business Department of Yanji Customs, pointed out that in rapidly growing markets such as Southeast Asia, tariff preferences under free trade agreements are a key factor for Chinese enterprises to maintain their price advantage. At present, the customs is providing precise policy guidance and interpreting professional rules to help enterprises fully utilize relevant trade policies and further expand their overseas market space.
