Yesterday, under the on-site supervision of Beilun Customs, a subsidiary of Ningbo Customs, the "Mediterranean Jienaler No. 4" vessel successfully docked at berth 7 of the Chuanshan Port Container Terminal in Zhoushan Port, Ningbo. This marks the official opening of the Mediterranean Shipping Company's East Africa route and the addition of a joint "the Belt and Road" route to Ningbo Zhoushan Port.
According to the plan, the newly opened Mediterranean East Africa route will deploy 10 modern container ships with 4500 TEUs to directly deliver goods such as automotive products, electronic products, chemical products, and building materials from Ningbo and surrounding cities to the two East African gateways of Tanzania and Kenya.
The new route will significantly improve transportation efficiency, provide opportunities for customers in the automotive, electronics, chemical, and construction industries in the African market, and jointly promote the development of Africa, "said Bian Kebiao, head of the Ship Management Department of Beilun Customs' Chuanshan Office.
According to statistics, in the first 10 months of this year, Ningbo Customs has supervised more than 20000 international navigation vessels entering and leaving the country. With the opening and operation of this route, the total number of container routes of Ningbo Zhoushan Port has reached 308, including 256 international routes, including 132 "the Belt and Road" routes.
Wu Guangji, the Operations Manager of Ningbo Zhoushan Port North Sanji Company, said that the landing of the route is not only an important measure for shipping companies to layout the market, but also inseparable from the collaborative empowerment of customs and ports. In the future, the efficiency of port services will continue to improve, which will attract more shipping resources to gather and inject stronger impetus into regional trade exchanges and smooth industrial and supply chains.
